Better Competition.

More Fun!

What is “Sunday Showcase” baseball?

Also called “Rec-Plus” or “Part-Time Travel,” the Showcase program is a development-based opportunity for CGYB rec-league players to hone their skills while competing against better competition from other local youth baseball organizations.

So the kids still compete in the Center Grove Youth Baseball program?

Yes. We place great value on the Rec-aspect of “Rec-Plus,” and believe that playing in a community-based rec-league can help develop the skills and confidence needed to advance to the next level in baseball -- while also creating memories and building friendships that last a lifetime! The CG Renegades Showcase program is simply a supplement to that experience.

When does the Showcase season take place?

The official Showcase season begins in mid-April and runs through early-June. All games are played on Sunday afternoons, in a double-header format, typically at 1p and 3p. The typical schedule will consist of 5 Sundays of game action, plus a one-day single-elimination tournament.

At the conclusion of the Rec and Showcase seasons, CG Renegades will have the opportunity to compete in several area All-Star tournaments, as well as one "destination" tournament.

What is the Renegades practice schedule?

The Renegades practice schedule will vary depending on whether it’s the off-season, pre-season, or in-season.

Off-Season (Jan – Mid-March): 10 skill-based developmental indoor workouts hosted at a facility in the Greenwood-area.

Pre-Season (Mid-March – Mid-April): Renegades teams will begin practicing outdoors once or twice a week prior to the start of the Rec season, weather dependent, and there will be scrimmages and one multi-day tournament during this period as well.

In-Season (Late-April – Early-June): Once the CGYB rec season has begun, Renegades activities will be confined to one practice a week and Sunday doubleheaders.

Are Renegades rosters age-based or grade-based?

The Renegades are age-based and follow the USSSA cut-off date of May 1. We do, however, make grade-based exceptions. Currently, we field teams at every level from 7U/8U/9U/10U/11U/12/13U-14U

Who do the CG Renegades compete against and how far will we have to drive for games?

The CG Renegades will be competing against other Showcase teams from around the Central Indiana area. All games will be within a 45-minute drive, with some being hosted at Ray Skillman Park.

What is the cost to play for the Renegades, and what does my child receive with our fees?

Our goal is to keep the costs of the program as low as possible, while still providing players and families with the experience and gear to make the commitment worth it. Total costs may vary from team-to-team, based on tournament fees, but in 2025 families can expect to pay no more than $550 for the total Renegades package, which will include:

Baseball

  • Winter Workouts

  • Practices

  • League/Tourney Fees

Gear

  • Jersey

  • Hat

  • Numbered Workout Shirt

  • Personalized Batting Helmet

Do we need to purchase additional gear and/or equipment for our child? What bats are permitted?

In terms of required equipment, all players will need a glove and cleats. There are no bat restrictions (USA or USSSA-approved), and purchasing Individual bats are optional – each coach will have a few pre-approved bats of different length for team use.

We might have some conflicts with other obligations (sports/church/family etc.) – how strict is attendance on the Renegades?

We are highly supportive of kids participating in multiple sports and engaging in a variety of social activities. As such, our attendance policy is very flexible. Winter workouts are optional (although highly recommended, of course), and prior to the season families will have the opportunity to indicate any Sundays they won’t be available for double-header play.

My child loves baseball, but still needs some skill development – are the Renegades a good fit for us?

100%. The Renegades are a “no-cut” program, and we welcome kids of all skill levels who enjoy baseball and have a desire to get better.

This sounds great – how do I get my child signed up?
